white man weeping
performed at the UNESCO heritage site, kunstfort bij vijfhuizen was once under german occupation during World War 2. rah symbolically performs their song white man weeping in drag as the character ‘rijkman’ that translates to rich man, with their long term collaborator antigoni seferli on the cello. The performance is inspired by real life exchanges with a man named rijkman whom the artist had the displeasure of meeting during their residency in Amsterdam. rijkman's character is based on a retired bank CEO who comfortably sits as chairman of a supervisory board at an esteemed art institute. the performance is accompanied by their work rite of passage, that dissects the white institution and imagines alternatives through conversations with other artist's of colour in the netherlands.
